Eleanor Sweeney

The EVS Family Foundation was formed as part of the estate of Eleanor Vinke Sweeney of Saranac Lake and is overseen by a small board of directors made up of her family members.

Eleanor moved to Saranac Lake in 1964 and raised her family here in the Adirondacks. She was a photographer and artist and was a great supporter of artists, the arts, and other community organizations. In turn, many local arts organizations were great supporters of her own work, showing her work extensively over the years throughout the Adirondacks and beyond. In 1997, she became a founding member of the Adirondack Artists Guild, a gallery in Saranac that continues to thrive today.

The foundation will continue support the local community, prioritizing the arts, the environment, education and social welfare.

Grants

The foundation is run by a small board of volunteers and the endowment is relatively small. Funds available for grants each year are thus limited, so we cannot actively accept or review applications for funding.
